Axe Yacht Club burgee made from Ministry of Defence (MoD) specification woven polyester fabric. The design appears on both sides, reading correctly on the front and as a mirror image on the reverse. Unless otherwise specified, all flags come complete with a rope and toggle.
If your design is symmetrical without lettering, the image will appear the same on the reverse. Lettering, however, will appear mirror image.
If you want your design to read correctly on both sides, it will require two complete flags sewn back-to-back. To block out the ‘show through,’ a lining has to be inserted. Please be aware that this process will cost twice as much as a mirror image flag.
The best quality Axe Yacht Club burgee is made from woven polyester, either printed or sewn. However, a more economical knitted polyester version is also available.
We can produce fully sewn burgees if your design is simple enough, but if your logo is more intricate, we recommend the printed version.
- Fully sewn: The design is appliqued onto woven polyester fabric. This process is better suited to smaller quantities and uncomplicated logos.
- Printed: The design is printed onto woven polyester fabric. We recommend this version for quantities of 10 or more of the same size with a complex logo.
For printed burgees, the minimum requirement is 10. This can be in different sizes; for example:

For fully sewn flags, there is no minimum order.
For printed flags, the minimum order is 10. These can be a combination of sizes, for example: 3 – 15″ x 10″, 3 – 18″ x 12″, 4 – 21″ x 14″
Typically, orders take 5 to 10 days, but during our busy period from March to July, they can take 3 to 4 weeks.

Artwork requirements
We have many yacht and sailing club logos in our files, but most are in master copy form that we use for tracing purposes. These are specifically for the sewn flags and club-defaced ensigns. We need your artwork for printed flags in a vector file, AI, or high-resolution JPEG. We can assist you if you are unable to provide vector artwork. If the design is simple, there is no charge. However, complicated designs will incur a small cost.
